Sr. Solution Architect – Engineering Portfolio

Position Responsibilities for Solution Architect at 321 Gang:

Senior Solutions Architects are critical members of 321 Gang’s technical team whose primary role is to provide strategic consulting, training, and services to 321 Gang’s customers. Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Work closely with IBM and 321 Gang sales teams in technically qualifying partner solutions including the IBM AI and Hybrid Cloud (which includes the former Rational and Telelogic brands) and Sodius solutions. Articulate the benefits to customers.
  • Define and present to customers product and technology training on both tool solutions and modern software engineering best practices.
  • Work on customer engagements to assist in the successful implementation of solutions

Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced customer-facing professional with a very strong technical and consulting background:

  • US or Canadian resident with the legal right to work in the United States
  • 5+ years of experience providing solution consulting support at enterprise software companies
  • T-shaped skills relative to the following IBM tools: (T-shaped – The vertical bar on the letter T represents the depth of related skills and expertise in one or two tools, whereas the horizontal bar is the ability to collaborate across the multiple tools with experts in other areas and to apply knowledge in areas of expertise other than one’s own.)
    • IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management Solution – including;
      • Engineering Workflow Management;
      • Engineering Requirements DOORS Next;
      • Engineering Test Management;
      • Engineering Systems Design Rhapsody – Model Manager;
      • Engineering Systems Design Rhapsody;
      • Engineering Lifecycle Optimization – Engineering Insights, Publishing, and Method Composer; and
      • Jazz Reporting Service
    • IBM DOORS Classic
    • IBM Synergy and Change
    • IBM ClearCase and ClearQuest
    • IBM Maximo
  • 5+ years’ experience working at a large, compliance-driven software/systems engineering organization
  • Familiarity with modern enterprise software technologies including lean and agile best practices, Eclipse, service-oriented architecture (SOA), configuration and change management, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
  • Adept at customer interactions, including presentations, training, mentoring, and software implementations. (Now, in the Covid era, using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Skype for Business, GoToMeeting, and the like.)
  • Excellent presentation, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Self-starter accustomed to a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related field

Additional Requirements:

  • Willing to travel ~50% (The 50% was pre-pandemic, at this point it is more important to be able to work, presenting, teaching, mentoring, and collaborating, using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Skype for Business, GoToMeeting, and the like. We will adapt to our customers’ needs as they change.)
  • A lifelong learner
  • Able to work from home
  • Can be located anywhere in the continental U.S., as long as nearby a major airport
  • Former IBM Software or Systems Engineering, Telelogic or Rational career experience a plus
  • Previous experience in this type of role a plus
  • IBM or SAFe certifications are a plus
