Leading Large, Lean-Agile Programs

While agile practices have become common place for small software teams, they are rapidly being adopted by large, engineered systems. This course teaches leadership roles at all levels their responsibility in supporting and leading lean-agile adoption.

Participants will understand the lean-agile terminology and principles and know how to assess team and program level performance. They will understand the industry best practices for scaling lean-agile principles based on the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). And participants will understand their role in a lean-agile organizational adoption

Course Details

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Understand Lean principles of cadence, synchronization, flow, WIP and batch sizes and their application in large, engineered systems
  • Know Agile, Scrum, and scaled agile (SAFe) practices and terminology including roles, backlogs, estimation, planning/forecasting, and visibility
  • Apply Lean-Agile mindset and practices to large systems – organizing around value, emphasizing learning, aligning large teams-of-teams, enabling flow, and others
  • Make engineering activities (including MBSE) part of regular agile flow
  • Understand the leadership role in a lean-agile enterprise
